Welcome home, Sawyer
Sawyer came into rescue surrendered to our care after going through the local court system. Sawyer was seized for neglect: tied to a tree, no slack on his tether to move around, no food, no water.
How anyone could treat any animal this way is beyond us.
But Sawyer held no grudges, and showed love to every person and animal he met, including cats. Sawyer is older at eight-years-old, but we would’ve never known. He’s an older dog, but still young-at-heart and ready for his new life.
His family fell in love at first look. He’s now in his forever home, safe, comfortable, loved. Congratulations Sawyer on your home. we hope you’ll keep in touch.
This homecoming happened thanks to a volunteer who made a special delivery. In rescue, something as seemingly small as transporting dogs from South Carolina is a huge thing. This transport created open spots in SC with our rescuer so she can save two more. Because her kennel is bursting at the seams, we weren’t going to pull any dogs this week; we weren’t even going to look because we had nowhere to go. But now we can save two more this week.
Rescue takes a village. If you can transport dogs, foster, screen adopters, help us apply for grants, anything, it helps. There is no small job in rescue, but plenty of tasks that fit a broad range of skills and availability. Please consider making a difference in the life of an animal and volunteer for DC PAWS or another rescue or shelter.
We say thank you a lot but the true gratitude comes from the animals like Sawyer. Sleep well, sweet boy. You are safe and loved forever.
