Sweet Helen was found wandering around the area of Pickens County in South Carolina early this summer. She was bare to the bones, but her belly was full.
When our local rescuer brought her to the vet we found out she was PREGNANT! Our local team quickly tended to Helen and provided her all the necessary care she needed to successfully deliver two healthy puppies. After a few months of nursing her two pups, Helen and her pups, Carli Lloyd and Hope Solo, took an 8 hour van ride to DC to find homes.
Once in DC, Carli and Hope found their forever homes right away. While Helen looked for her new home, she took that opportunity to become a star. First, she walked the runway with Wilson Ramos, Catcher for the Washington Nationals.
Then, she was on the Pet Show with Dr. Katy.
Finally, she strutted another runway as Wonder Woman at the DC-region Strut Your Mutt walk, hosted by Best Friends Animal Society.
During her stardom, she won the hearts of so many. She was a social butterfly at adoption events, a superb cuddler to her foster siblings and dad, and a big hugger to all people she met.
AND THEN! Helen found her forever home — a home where she would be loved by two people who would give her all the love she deserves in return. She now enjoys time on the couch laying with her new mommy and trips to the park to socialize. Her journey was long and hard, but she survived, and is now thriving in her new home.
