Meet adorable Amanda! She and her equally adorable sister, Amelia, also available for adoption, are 9 week old sweethearts who have already overcome a huge obstacle. Found at only a few weeks of age, without their momma, they were brought to the local kill shelter. Animal control immediately contacted our rescuers, who swooped in, bottle fed them around the clock, and reared them almost as well as their birth mother would have. Raised among children and other animals, Amanda and Amelia have wonderful temperaments, and love to be held and cuddled with.

Amanda will likely be in the neighborhood of 60 lbs. when fully grown, give or take 5 lbs.

Amanda will require an adopter who is home during the day, to work on house training and continued socialization. She will need to go out every 3-4 hours, including the early hours of the morning/night, so is not well suited to those needing to be up early in the morning. Raising a puppy is very rewarding, but a lot of work in the beginning. We think Amanda is totally worth any temporary inconvenience!

If you are interested in adopting Amanda, please email Robin at robinr@dcpawsrescue.org. The adoption fee for her is $350, which covers routine vetting, vaccinations, boarding and transport to DC. Amanda will need to be spayed at her adopter’s expense by the age of 8 months, on or about 11/10/15.
