Meet Amelia! She is a 9-week-old sweetheart who has already overcome a huge obstacle. Found at only a few weeks of age, without her momma, she was brought to the local kill shelter. Animal control immediately contacted our rescuers, who swooped in, bottle fed her and her sister around the clock, and reared them almost as well as their birth mother would have. Raised among children and other animals, Amelia has a wonderful temperament, and loves to be held and cuddled with.
Amelia weighs in at 13 lbs. (as of 5/12/15). We cannot be certain of her breed mix, but judging by size and coat, our best guess is Flat Coated Retriever/Bernese Mountain Dog. We suspect Amelia will likely be in the neighborhood of 70 lbs. when fully grown, give or take 5 lbs. She currently lives with a foster family. Look for her at our upcoming events, or once you complete an application, contact us if you want to arrange a meet and greet.
Amelia will require an adopter who is home during the day, to work on house training and continued socialization. She will need to go out every 3-4 hours, including the early hours of the morning/night, so is not well suited to those needing to be up early in the morning. Raising a puppy is very rewarding, but a lot of work in the beginning. We think Amelia is totally worth any temporary inconvenience!
Amelia will need to be spayed at her adopter’s expense by the age of 8 months, on or about 11/10/15.
