DC PAWS Rescue was founded in the spring of 2015 as an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., committed to rescuing homeless animals from high-kill and under-resourced animal control facilities, both locally and in the rural southeast (EIN 47-3267466).

In April of 2022, DC PAWS Rescue joined forces with Petey & Furends Rescue, another small, reputable rescue in the DC area. Petey & Furends has high standards and shares our culture of “quality over quantity,” with a sincere and vested interest in placing animals in the best foster and adoptive homes.

Similar to DC PAWS Rescue, Petey & Furends does not have a shelter or boarding facility, rather they rely upon foster families to host animals until they are adopted. The rescue can only save as many dogs and cats as there are foster homes for, so please consider signing up to foster so we can save even more adoptable animals in need. It is so rewarding!
